Catherine Adey Davies - "Green Business of the Year"
2nd November 2011
And some great news just in from North Wales... Catherine Adey-Davies (North Wales Consultant) has been named as the region’s ‘Green Business of the Year’ for her ENJO business.
The award was presented by networking organisation Free2Network at a gala evening and dinner held at the area’s most glamorous hotel. The judging panel picked ENJO above many much larger local organizations which was particularly nice for me – it really hit home how lucky I am to be able to run such a flexible business around my family life and be on the same stage as companies employing large numbers of people.
When the nominations for the Green category were being read out last Friday evening
(I knew only that I had been nominated, not even that I’d been shortlisted) I did start to get a bit shaky... it was a bit like being at Synergy last year and hoping I’d made the Top 66! The event was attended by over 120 guests from across the region and it was just brilliant to get such a huge cheer as my name was read out – many of the people in the room have become customers so there were lots of people rooting for me.
This was the first Awards ceremony held by Free2Network, which has several hundred members across North Wales and the north of England. I’ve been a member of the association for just over a year and go to lots of their events. Networking can be a fantastic way to grow your ENJO business – a lot of the events are informal and great fun socially. It really started when I moved to Wales nearly 4 years ago and didn’t know a single person – I just had to get out there and mingle... which has led to some wonderful friendships and very loyal customers.
Since the giddy heights of last weekend (and a slightly sore head the next day!) I’ve been busy contacting all of the local press and have appeared in all of the three local newspapers - which is all great awareness raising. Lots of the mums at school have mentioned seeing the news of my award, so all in all it’s been a great few days. Ultimately it’s just great to be rewarded within my local business community for my hard work over the last few years – and even better for my customers to realize that by buying ENJO products, they are becoming a part of a fast growing green revolution!!”
